After unprecedented growth and a database reconstruction at the end of last year, the school is proud to announce that Jane Walker will become our full-time librarian from Term 2. Speaking on her recent appointment, Jane said she is keen to continue fostering a love of reading at the school.
“My favourite part of being the BMS librarian is talking to the students about what they are reading and getting their suggestions for books,” Jane said.
“Since becoming the librarian I have seen the library become a much-loved space in our school. I enjoy maintaining the library and making it a nice space for our community,” she said.
“We have a great reading culture at our school, and I look forward to fostering this love of reading further.”
With the new full-time role, comes some exciting and new library initiatives, including book clubs, reading support and library lessons.
“There is a lot planned for the library that I will be implementing in 2022, and I will also be calling for parent/carer volunteers,” Jane said.
“We start in Term 2, where for the first time Children’s house students are able to borrow one book with their parents to take home for two weeks,” she said.
“I hope that many families visit me and take the opportunity to sit and read with their child.”
